A chasen is a bamboo whisk specially designed for preparing Japanese matcha tea. It is used to mix the matcha powder with warm water, in such a way as to create a light, creamy foam. Its main role is to ensure that the matcha is prepared correctly, and it also creates an authentic taste experience through a Japanese tea ceremony

CARE :

FIRST USE:
Soak the whisk for a few minutes in a bowl of warm water to loosen the strands.

AFTER EACH USE :
Rinse your whisk in cold water without adding any cleaning product. Leave to air dry, stems up. Do not put back in its case while drying to avoid any risk of mould.

SHAPE :
As soon as it is used for the first time, the whip will unfurl like a flower bud, which is completely normal and natural.
From time to time, it may be necessary to reshape the chasen strands to maintain their shape. You can do this by soaking it in hot water for a few minutes, then gently shaping it with your fingers to straighten the strands or reshape them using a kusenaoshi (often sold as a support, but not to be used as such, as it prevents the whip from ‘breathing' and can weaken the stems over time)

💚 CARE – Some tips to make your bamboo matcha whisk last longer: make sure you don’t press against the bottom of the bowl when whisking your matcha, rinse the implement under cold water without using any soap, and let it air-dry with the prongs facing upwards before storing it away
